The Season of Travel

by Michele Pesula Kuegler on June 24th, 2013

vacation signEntering the fourth week of June, school is out almost everywhere.  Well, except for areas that have year ’round school and a few places in New England that still are working off snow days.  Other than that, most kids have traded in their backpacks and homework agendas for bathing suits and beach towels.

While most adults don’t have the luxury of having the whole summer off, they do tend to plan vacations for the summer months.  Whether it is a 10-day trip to a far away destination, a long weekend camping, or even a stay-cation filled with trips to local sites, summer is the time for travel.

This summer isn’t one of huge trips at our house.  However, we are working on plans for shorter trips, 3 days here, perhaps a weekend there.  In some ways, I find trips like those even more enjoyable: there’s less packing and prep for shorter trips.  Of course, I wouldn’t mind getting away from it all for a week-long trip to a new destination either.

At our travel publication, Good Life Review, we have five years’ worth of travel advice.  In the past year, we have focused this advice, studying one location per month, offering suggestions for dining, lodging, attractions, and more.  We’ve gone from New Zealand to New York City and many places in between.

If your vacation planning is like ours, you’re probably still deciding on dates and locations.  Wherever your summer travels take you, be it faraway or your backyard, be sure to relax and enjoy.  I know we will!
