On this mid-April morning, I can barely find the words to explain my excitement at today’s weather. The sun is shining, the temperatures are supposed to reach the upper 70s, and I am wearing open-toed sandals (without shivering!). Additionally, yesterday was the first day that I spent working in my yard this season- transplanting shrubbery, cleaning perennial beds, and removing the winter’s accumulation of sand from our garage. These first few tastes of warm spring weather have been delicious!
Just as the sun puts a smile on my face, so do some of these noteworthy items:
- New tagline– For quite some time, our tagline had been, “Inspire. Inform. Engage.” I truly loved that tagline, as that is what I want PeKu to do for all of our readers. When you find an article, it should provoke a response whether it be intellectual or emotional. However, that tagline doesn’t explain exactly what we do. I recognize that PeKu still is not a household name, so we need a tagline that helps our new visitors understand what we do. Thus, our new tagline is “Original articles to inspire every reader.” This tagline embraces our two most important qualities. One, we publish only original content. Two, each article is written with the goal of inspiring our audience. I’m hoping that this change helps future readers discover PeKu more easily and quickly.
- Five years– Jacob P., a columnist, celebrates his fifth anniversary with PeKu this month. Jacob started at the age of 13, as our second teen columnist. Over the past five years he has expanded his writing to include amphibian and reptile articles, men’s fashion, and more.
- Two years– R. Carnavale has been writing about a myriad of topics for PeKu in the past twenty-four months. Covering everything from gaming to travel to book reviews, this columnist provides advice and knowledge on these topics and many more.
I hope your Monday is off to a bright a start as it is here at PeKu!
