Let Us Entertain You

wooden_heartReflecting upon my Mother’s Day, the central theme of the day was entertainment.  Along with the breakfast of scones made by my children, I was presented with a gift certificate for an evening comprised of dinner and a concert.  In the afternoon, my husband and I attended the matinee performance of our local high school’s musical in which one of our daughters did the makeup for the actors.  In between dinner and dessert, our family sat together and watched some of our favorite shows that we had stored on our DVR.

Music is central to my day.  I thoroughly enjoy listening to a wide range of music.  From something fast-paced during a workout to current hits while doing rote projects to classical music while in deeper thought to a little jazz or lounge music while cooking, music is a great part of my day.  This love of music made my present even more special.  Not only did my kids and husband remember the holiday, they also chose something that reflects me instead of giving me flowers or candy.

The few hours spent in the high school auditorium were delightful.  Although our high school is small, the caliber of artists was amazing.  From the singing ability to the comedic timing, this drama club knows how to put on a terrific show.  Spending 2-1/2 hours laughing and clapping with my husband was the perfect way to spend a lazy Sunday.

Finally, although I am not a huge fan of watching television, being able to sit with our teens and laugh at the same jokes was a great way to bond.  Our days are busier, as are our nights, and time spent together can be hard to find.  So, if watching a show that we all like brings us together, why not?

Entertainment is something that gives all of us a way to relax and take a break from our regular schedules.  At PKP, we provide insight into some of the best tv shows, albums, books, sporting events, and other entertainment options. Take a peek at this section to see what’s new.
