Memorial Day is an anticipated holiday for many.  It’s the unofficial start of summer.  It provides many with a three-day weekend.  It is the reason to host a party, to attend a parade, to watch fireworks.

What can be lost on many is that this day was set aside to recognize those that gave their lives, in order for us to enjoy things so frivolous as barbecues.

So, while you are enjoying your hot dog and cold beverage, take a moment to remember those that sacrificed and gave us the opportunity to appreciate the simple things in life.
