Sam has been a member of our writing team since March 2011. She currently is our youngest writer and the other half of our Teen’s Perspective column. A sophomore in high school, she opines on a wide variety of teen topics. She also serves as a columnist at Go Shopping Info, sharing her thoughts on teen fashion on a biweekly basis. In addition to these teen-focused topics, Sam has covered a variety of other subjects, includes apps, video game of the month, and cooking.
This week we interviewed Sam to learn more about her.
MPK: When you aren’t writing articles, what do you like to do with your free time?
SP: When I am not writing my articles, I am either hanging out with friends, at sports practices or school, or working on homework as my grades are very important to me.
MPK: Which publication is your favorite to write for?
SP: My favorite website to write for is definitely Go Shopping Info.
MPK: You write a biweekly column on fashion. What is your favorite outfit currently?
SP: My current favorite outfit would probably be my black high-low skirt from American Eagle worn at my waist. I pair it with a plain black tank top tucked in and a thick gold waist belt to keep the skirt up. The belt has a large bow at the buckle. Then to finish it off I wear the necklace I got from my great grandmother. It’s a long thick gold chain with a gold turtle broach. The shell of the turtle is pink and orange swirled.
MPK: You also write the Game of the Month article. Do you play any online/video/smartphone games? If so, do you have a favorite?
SP: I actually don’t really play any video games. With my busy schedule I don’t really have time to. Although if I had to pick a favorite I would definitely go with Angry Birds.
MPK: What fun fact would our readers be surprised to learn about you?
SP: One thing that I think is very interesting about me is the fact that I am a female wrestler. I am the only girl in my school that wrestles and one of about five in New Hampshire. Because of this I do wrestle boys. Many people don’t realize it but wrestling is actually a co-ed sport. And if anything boys tend to try even harder when wrestling me, as it is quite embarrassing to be beaten by a girl.
