Meet the Specialist- Allison DeCesere

by Michele Pesula Kuegler on October 28th, 2013

rsz_headshotAlthough I did not plan it intentionally, this month marks two years of publishing our Bridal Specialist column on Here Comes a Bride.  Since this column began on October 24, 2011, Allison DeCesere has provided our readers with advice for a plethora of their wedding quandaries.  Allison is the co-owner of My Bridal Dream, along with Tia Lori Bergeron.  Dedicated to helping brides plan the wedding of their dreams, My Bridal Dream currently is helping brides find vendors in New Hampshire.

Today I’m pleased to introduce you to Allison.

MPK: Our readers know you simply as our bridal specialist.  What is your role in the world of weddings?

AD: I am the co-founder of MyBridalDream, a website that helps match brides with vendors that meet her specific needs.  I am also a self proclaimed, wedding addict.  I love weddings and always have.

MPK: You cover a variety of topics in your weekly column.  What is your favorite part of wedding planning?

AD: Reception décor.  I know it sounds funny but there is so much you can do with decorating for a  wedding.  The sky is really the limit.  It’s your one chance to have your personality shine through while throwing the biggest party of your life.

MPK: You are co-founder of My Bridal Dream. What do you like best about this online resource?

AD: The best part of MyBridalDream is how it actually makes wedding planning easier for the brides.  There are a ton of lists of wedding vendors out there.  You can find them online and even in print but we are the only website that allows a bride to answer questions about who she is looking for and we narrow down her list of potential vendors based on her answers.  You can even get reviews and hear what other brides have to say about these vendors.  Plus communication with them is even easier because you can use our internal email system to send an anonymous message eliminating the dreaded 100 emails in your work inbox from vendors or sites that have sold your personal information.

MPK: What was the inspiration for creating My Bridal Dream?

AD: Wedding planning.  I had helped many friends and family members plan weddings.  We would spend countless hours scouring the internet, looking through magazines and going to bridal shows all over.  Then you’d still have to call each one to get more information to even see if they would meet our needs.  I knew there had to be a better way.  Turns out there wasn’t, so I created it with MyBridalDream.

MPK: What fun fact would our readers be surprised to learn about you?

AD: I didn’t get married until I was 35.  As much fun as wedding planning is, I still recognize that it is the most important decision you will make in your personal life.  Finding the right person for you is all that really matters.  Weddings are great and fun and I absolutely love them, but you really need to find your best friend because the party ends and real life begins.  I was lucky enough to find mine, and he was more than worth the wait.
