August Highlights

by Michele Pesula Kuegler on August 6th, 2012

Where does the summer go?  Depending on where you live, your summer vacation may have ended yesterday.  For those of us in New England, most of the schools don’t return to regular sessions for three or four weeks, but still it feels like summer is flying by.  Sure, the weeks have been filled with fun for the kids:  family vacations; sleepovers with friends; trips to the mall, theme park, and movies; late nights goofing around followed by sleeping late the next day.

For those of us who don’t get the benefit of having the summer off, there still is a different feel to the work schedule.  Every week there are colleagues and business partners who are on vacation.  Scheduling a meeting can be tricky, but on a Friday afternoon it is almost impossible.  Although most people would deny it, it seems that a majority of the working world skips out of the office quietly at lunchtime on Friday.

Of course, there still is work to be done.  For those of us at WMG, articles need to be edited and scheduled.  New designs need to be created.  New features need to be developed.

As we enjoy the last full month of summer, we look to two of our publications to see what is new and exciting:

  • Go Shopping Info has once again narrowed its focus.  We replaced our biweekly columns on fashion for children with more columns on fashion for women.  With more coverage in the world of women’s fashion (with a lean toward bargains), we hope to be a source of shopping inspiration for teen and adult women.
  • Feathers Fins and Fur continues to be a resource for pet owners everywhere.  To provide more information to our readers, we now have monthly columns on cat health, dog health, fish care, and amphibian and reptile care.  We also continue to publish our weekly Ask the Vet column, which is a valuable asset for our readers.  (If you have a question about your pet, please feel free to submit your question.

Enjoy what remains of the summer.  We may even take a Friday afternoon off to indulge in a bit of a long weekend.
